Got a 1998 115 hp Ficht engine with a fuel pump issue, I think? The engine rev up to 3000 rpm only. But if I squeeze the bulb continuously it runs better. Do you think it is the fuel pump? I checked the price of a new pump assembly, but it was really expensive. Is it possible to repair or change any part of the pump assembly instead?

Do you have a factory manual? Several fuel tests can be preformed to diagnose. I can't remember if that had a lift pump or not. I think so.

The sites with parts break downs show that parts are available for fuel pumps and ect.

Seems to me that these had a lift pump. If it runs better when squeezing bulb put a kit in it. They are cheap. Testing the high pressure side requires some stuff..it also needs adequate supply which is what the lift pump supplied. Squeezing the bulb while running is doing the lift pumps job.

I found a kit part # 5004454 for the lift pump. Double check that. For price it said " see your dlr ".

I think it r39981 or 439881. 52 dollars. Lift pump diaphragm repair kit. Been a long time. Numbers may be wrong but your dealer ought to be able to figure it out. They went bad all the time.

It's been five years since I have seen one of these that even runs so my memory is getting thin.
