My old Evinrude has been getting harder to start lately. Today I found that two cylinders on the same side (starter side) are not firing. Is there something rather simple for me to do that may save a trip to the shop. I thought about swapping powerpacks to opposiste sides, but thought there may be something simpler. I am not a repair man, but can do some things. Read a meter etc. Just don't know which way to go on this.
Thanks

Start with a compression test.---Then test for spark that must jump a gap of 7/16" or more.-------Go ahead it is simple to swap the powerpacks / coils to the other side.

Swap the power packs first. Test run the engine. If that does not work, then swap the coils. Doing the swap of coils and packs at the same time may confuse your test results. You can use an inductive timing light to show the spark quality when the engine is running-a great test tool.
