I am new to boating and have a 115 Evinrude that has a hole in the back for water to come out and it is not. The holes on the bottom on both sides work but the one on top on the drivers side nothing. You can blow thru it so its not clogged. It has to be something simple. My boys are getting mad cause we finally got a boat and they can not go tubin. I have told them to many stories and they want to go but I'm afraid the boat is not getting enough water to the engine. Please help. All ideas will be gladdly accepted and looked at.

It's hard to make a comment, not knowing what year the engine is...

If you are talking about te two holes at the upper end of the lower unit it is normal for little or no water to come out of those holes when at idle and in the water - - your observation was made with the boat in the water rather than on a trailer - right? In any case when you get underway water will build up and flow out of those two holes. At wide open throttle the flow can get real strong.

That's the way they work.
