Re: evinrude 115
B.D.-that engine was a very popular engine in the 80's. OMC made them by the thousands. Parts are still readily available. They make a lot of torque, but are not very fuel efficient. First year for the VRO pump. The engine is as good as the prior owner's preventative maintenance. Some things that are really important: check the engine compression. Should be in the 100+ range on all 4 cyls. You should hear it run-even on the muffs in the driveway. Check the lower unit oil to make sure there is no water intrustion. (water leaking into the gearbox) I'd also check the serial number just to be sure. The cowlings on these models are easily changed. More than one IBoat user comment has been due to the purchase of a mis-labeled engine. (incorrect hp or model year.)
