evinrude 135 starflight

hi all

Just been given a starflight 135 any ideas what age this might be 70s or 80s cant find any numbers on it.

We will need a model number. First look for the transom tag here:



If the tag has been removed because of paint or when it was stolen , look for the welch plug, it will be on the top rear of the motor, about the size of a quarter and will look like this

To give you a general time frame: the first year for the 135 was 1973. It was made thru the 1976 model year.

You will find the 1" X 3" Plate with the model and serial number on the port transom bracket under the tilt locking lever. If it has been removed, check the engine block on the top of the port cylinder bank for a quarter-sized aluminum welch plug; the numbers may be stamped there as well.
