I have a friend who has a friend who may be wanting to part ways with a 150 horse Evinrude. I do not know any specifics as far as year or any of that, I only know that the guy can't get it running, bought a new power pac (or whatever it is), still can't get it running, and as far as I know does not know much about fixing outboards. My friend seems to think he can get his friend to sell it cheap. What I would like to know it, what would any of you pay for something like this. My instincts tell me no more than $100, because lord knows what is actually wrong with the thing.

I am only intrigued because if I can get it cheap, and fix it, then I can have 150 ponies with power trim on the back of The Beast, or The Beast II (I am working on getting a project hull). I still love my Merc 1250, but more power is more power....

Jason, I think your biggest concern now would be to get the year...let's figure out if it's the 2.5L or the 2.6L. You have a bit more options with the 2.5L due to the cyl. sleeve thickness.

Re: Evinrude 150 hp value question

Thanks Walleye. Update time! My buddy just called, told me he talked to the buddy of his, and has brokered the deal. The price you may ask? Nada, zip, zilch. I guess he has a bunch of motors and cars and boats and junk laying around, and was happy to be rid of it. I can't wait to tear into it. For the price, I am willing to burn a few bucks to get it running if it is a decent motor. I'll post back tomorrow with more info...
