I’m considering a used boat. Has a 2011 E Tec 150 on it with 206 hours. Looking for opinions on this motor. What should I do before I buy?

I own a 74 70 Hp so no computer diagnostics experience. Any thoughts on these fault codes?

Stay away from those v6 etecs...I have found poor reliability in commercial applications. High hour, constant use scenarios, rental and charter type stuff.

Why buy a EDSEL?? The dealers are ticked off and now wont work on em and parts have quit being produced since Evinrude went belly up..

The parts support is currently in flux, not proven to be protected by BRP despite what the public relations statements say. Thus dealers are wanting to abandon ship quick as they can and switch to a manufacturer that is reliable partner to sell and service.

Most of the critical parts that will be especially difficult to source will be the prime reasons why people will jump ship.

Fuel injectors, engine computer, engine sensors, etc. Once those go NLA and no reputable company takes over all of them, those engines turn into ticking boat anchors.

I would guess that it is much easier to find capable suppliers to make carb parts than custom fuel injectors and engine computers.

Why don't you try to find the nearest nearest Evinrude E-Tec certified shop and stop by to ask them to current situation.

Fatzbullet, That’s why I’m asking. It’s a used boat that seems nice and well equipped but has been on the market for a month. Must be something concerning......

Where did you hear that BRP was discontinuing parts?
From several dealers and support guys..only making/keeping parts for motors under the 5 year warranty...
