EVINRUDE 150 v6 need some help

i have an evinrude 150 v6 86 model. i cleaned the carb and the diaphrams are clean. it runs great when i have the water hose hookedto it but when i put it in the river it cranks but only on full idle and when i put it to reular idle it chokesout and dies. it will not open up any. any advice?

First, Check the spark on each plug wire with an inductive timing light. If you have good spark, you may have some dried fuel in the passageways of the carbs. You may need to overhaul all three carbs.

First! Get a proper manual. It sound's like you are probing in the dark when you say you have cleaned the diaphram's. There is a diaphram in the fuel pump, none in the carb's. When those carbs' are taken apart, the linkage has to be put back in proper order.
