I am rebuilding my 1978 Evinrude 150 and have a busted cylinder sleeve. Can anyone tell me which year/model powerheads are compatible with mine? 1978 model number 150849.

Thanks

If your crank is still usable, it might be worth sleeving one cylinder.

Describe "a busted cylinder sleeve".

Getting the crank "mic'ed" this weekend. I thought about sleeving but was wondering which year blocks would interchange just in case.

Whats wrong with the sleeve now? Cracked across the exhaust port bridge?

Actually a connecting rod bolt came loose and took a small chunk out of the cylinder at the bottom. Maybe the size of a dime. It's at the very bottom and nowhere near a port. Piston and cylinder wall have one large groove, maybe too deep to bore.

Any "flat back" V6 crossflow will work. Around 82 or 83 there was a depth change in the by-pass area. If you use a block from then or newer you will need the by-pass covers from that block.

Good luck!
