I have just been offered at a very good price a new 2002 Rude 150 Ficht. As I have only ever had mercs in the past, has anyone who has hands on experience of this engine have a comment to make.
It will spend its life in seawater and my Merc has gone 10 years with no sign of corrosion and pretty good reliability.I would be expecting the same of a replacement.
Thanks in advance and excellent thread on "Will Bombadier make it"... very encouraging.

Re: Evinrude 150Ficht

A new Evinrude will have more stainless steel components than your 10 year old Merc, and it also has coatings internally, such as in the exhaust system, to combat unseen corrosion. The paint has more primers and solids, also, compared to older motors. There are more "zincs" on the motor also to cut down on corrosion problems, and there is a flushing port so you do not have to run the motor, and disturb the neighbors, to clean it out..
