Evinrude, 15R4 reliable? (4 stroke)

I havnt owned an omc since my ficht back in 2003, so Im a bit wary.

Have a 15hp 4 stroke evinrude on offer brand new for 40% off retail.

Are these engines highly rated or duds?

I have honestly not heard of any problems on that motor. Wow you used to own a FICHT.......good reason to be shy of the Evinrude.

If the motor was built by Suzuki it should be okay.

What is the model number?

The Evinrude 15 4-stroke was designed and built by OMC, not Suzuki. Unfortunately some parts are no longer available. The one piece ignition module and the carburetor accelerator pump diaphragm are not found anywhere. That engine has not been manufactured for about 14 years, so even though it is new, it is already a decade and a half old.
