Hi there
I just brought home a new(used) boat with a 175 outboard on it. The hull is a 1994 Campion Chase 190(19ft) and is in great shape. The interior is also mint and the boat was obviously garage kept as the painted trailer has no rust at all after 20 years! Judging by the appearance of the motor and condition of the hull I doubt this boat has many hours at all.
This is the first outboard I have had again after many years with an inboard and I am a little lost.
In my searches it appears that the oil injection pumps may be a concern. Should I disconnect it and pre-mix? If so how difficult is it to do and is there an alarm to disconnect as well or safety shutdown on the motor? Should I keep the injection pump and also run some pre-mix at the same time or will that just smoke me out and foul the plugs and carbs?
Thanks for your time.
Gary
