Hey Guys, I have been reading some of the posts on here and getting some ideas as to my problem. I have an 87' evinrude 175 TXCUA. It has an aluminum 14.5 x 21 prop. My boat is an 18'8" Bayliner C/C. I am having a problem with the motor shutting down at wot only after being out on the water for an hour or two. I have been on the evinrude forum and got many ideas to try to fix my problem but nothing really makes it a clear fix. One guy did tell me that I could possibly have the wrong prop and it was lugging the engine causing an overheat. If anyone can tell me what size I should have I would greatly appreciate it. My Tach doesn't work so I dont know what rpm i'm running at. By the sound of the motor it doesn't seem to really wind out. I used to have a bass boat with a 115 and yo could really hear it tach out. I don't expect that out of this because its a v6 and I figure it will be a different sound. Thanks

you have a 175hp motor and no tach. tach tells you a lot. wot rpms should be 5700-5900 to get the most out of that motor. get a tach!!
