evinrude 18 fastwin shaft urgent!!!!!!

whats up everyone i got a 18 hp evinrude fastwin and i took the lower unit off where the impeller is and i pulled down on the lower unit and checked the impeller and it was ok when i put it back up and put the bolts on i put it in a dunk tank and tried pulling the cord it was extremely hard to pull so i took the lower unit off again but then the cord pulled fine ad i checked the recoil and thats fine whats the problem? could you please email me with the awnser my adress is burtonbalance15@hotmail.com

You must have assembled it wrong. If it turns easy with the lower unit off and hard with the lower unit on, your lower unit adds a lot of friction.<br /><br />Means that some moving part in LU is getting jammed when you tighten the bolts.

Try to turn the drive shaft by hand when you have the lower unit off. I suspect you pinched part of the impellor in the housing. Walker
