I am working on sealing up my lower unit. I pressure tested the unit with 5 psi and the only leak is at the driveshaft seal (313284) under the water pump. I have removed the seal. I found that the bronze bushing (304084) just under the seal is loose in the bore. It is not sloppy loose but i was able to remove it with a pick. The driveshaft face of the shield is smooth and fits the driveshaft without any lateral motion. the outside of the bushing looks normal. I have a new bushing I got with a box of OMC parts at a swap meet. It too is loose in the bore. I only have a SELOC manual and it does not address the fitment of the bushing. Can the new bushing be secured with an epoxy to keep it from possibly spinning in the bore? Any advice is appreciated

It might be a full " floating " bushing.----It might have been loose from day 1 at the factory.-----Check with your local grey haired mechanic.
