Evinrude 1967 Sportwin 9.5

This question has been answered in various forms, but I wanted an answer specific to my Sportwin 9.5. First let me say that it runs well being as old as it is. I'm losing gear lube through my propeller shaft oil seal. Can this seal be replaced after removal of the propeller only?

I don't believe so. You have to disassemble the LU. But it's a good time to change all the seals then.

If I remember correctly you have a single seal and not a back to back seal. It can be changed without tearing the lower unit apart, but you might destroy a couple of seals getting it back togeather properly. As sam_ott stated, you are better off tearing the lower unit apart and doing it properly.
