Hi!

I want to restore my motor. It's now running good, but there's 3 things that bothers me and I'm hoping that some of you may have answers.

1-Where can I get the rubber trim that is now cracked beyond repair?
We can't really see it in this picture, but it's the rubber trim that goes at the bottom of the white cover.

2-The lower unit is pitted. My friend told be that an anode should be somewhere to prevent this, but I haven't seen it in the diagrams. How would I go about repainting that part.

3-Trim/tilt motor is flakey. It struggles sometime to bring the engine up even on a full battery. What could be the cause of it? Would it be repairable? What is the usual parts that break on these things?

Thanks for your help!

Finding a new seal will be difficult. I just checked at www.marineengine.com and it says "unavailable". Chances are that you'll have to go to a salvage yard and find one there. Look at the "Top Secret" file for Salvage Yards. As for the pitting and the paint, www.nymarine will have the matching paint but the pitting will take some sanding and filling. The tilt/trim may just need some fluid put in it. Try that first because those units are expensive to repair.

www.nymarine.ca also sells the seals. You'll have to see if they have the seal for your particular motor. They had it for mine.

Thanks guys for the links, I found the seal at www.nymarine.ca.

For the tilt/trim, is there a usual fill hole/type of liquid that goes in it?
