EVINRUDE 1973 85 HP
MODEL: 85493B
SERIAL: J0008566

Ok.. this is a hodge podge...

Just got a Maxum bowrider with the above moter.
They wired it to use the Maxum ignition key, and it has a Tracker II control box for throttle.

Now I'm pretty shure this motor has PTT. The Maxum doesnt have an option for the PPT but the Tracker II control does.

So I guess what I'm asking is..

1. Does this motor actually have PPT
2. Can anyone send me the wireing diagram so I can get the Tracker II controls hooked up for the PPT?

The Tracker II appears to have 3 wires for the tilt (Green, Red, Blue).

Thanks

Your motor is a 1974, not '73. It doesn't have PTT unless it was added as an accessory kit. If it does have it, it is very obvious at just a casual glance. It will have a very heavy plate bolted to the swivel bracket, with hydraulic cylinders on each side, and a hydraulic pump bolted to the stern brackets. You can't miss it.

EDIT: I am not talking about the two shock absorbers that you will see if you tilt the motor and look underneath. The PTT cylinders are outside.

Thanks for the reply. (novice here)

It does not have PPT. So if I was looking for an evinrude/johnson PPT on ebay, what would fit my boat/motor.

Thanks

You may want to try running the boat a season to work out some kinks before spending cash on a T&T at this point. If the boat is "new to you", I'm sure some 'gremlins' will come out make play for your cash.. Another option is, with an outboard of this vintage & the cost of adding T&T, your 1/2 way to a newer, used motor with factory T&T..

unless you do a lot of shallow water running, the cost may not cover the benefits of TNT.

you have a 4 cylinder motor, need a TNT of a 4 banger. in the vintage of your motor.

Re: Evinrude 1973 85 Hp

My problem is that the outboard (when on trailer) is only about 3 inches off the ground. So I really dont want to trailer in "Drive" posistion but I've not yet figured out how to tilt the motor up and have it stay (dosent appear to have a catch)

Also the damn thing weighs a ton...

Would the previous ebay post item work with my motor?

Thanks

If I remember right the catch is underneath the motor. If you lift the motor up there is a bar that pulls out and holds the motor up,but it has been quite a few years since we had one.
