hiya,

Question as above bought a 2nd hand boat which has the above
engine and prop, now everything I can find on this engine shows a 3 blade prop, can someone please tell me a part number for a 3 blade prop or is there an OEM version, also what is the approx cost for a prop and will I notice a significant increase in performance against a 2 blade prop.

Regards
Pete

The BRP parts catalog shows 8 x 7-1/4, 3 blade as the standard prop and 8-1/4 x 5, 3 blade as the alternative (presumably for a slow heavy boat)

Look at http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E at you can find the part numbers

thanks for that but do you or anyone else know if there would be
a significant speed/performance increase going from 2 to 3 blades

Probably a better hole shot as a three blade prop is usually for more power and a 2 blade prop is more for speed. I don't believe that you will notice much less top end on this engine.

I have run my 6hp on both a 3 and 2 blade prop, I found little or no differance between the two.

On that motor I don't think the number of blades would
make a noticeable difference. The pitch would.
If it is a big boat and/or you are pushing a big load
most of the time you might consider the 5 inch pitch load prop.Just keep in mind when running alone it might over rev.
If you are having difficulty planing alone buy or make a tiller extension so you can sit in the middle seat.
You will be amazed at the difference.
