Everytime we go to crank it, it runs for about 30 seconds then dies. We were out on the water when this thing died on us. Up until then it was running fine. We've gone over our usual suspects and have not fixed it. Here's what's been done:

New fuel tank and line
Rebuild the carbs -again
New fuel pump
Compression check (~120 psi)
Spark -yes, all 3 cyl's

After all that the same problem persists. Could this be something with the powerpack, coils, or something with the stator?

If you have the proper compression, spark, and fuel to the cylinders, the engine should run.

Pertaining to the spark..... with the spark plugs removed, that spark on all cylinders should jump a 7/16" gap with a wide, strong lightning like spark.

If that spark is not like the description above, disconnect the large RED electrical plug at the engine, then crank the engine via the starter solenoid. Use a small jumper from the battery terminal of the solenoid to the small 3/8" nut that energizes the solenoid (not the ground 3/8" nut).

If the spark improves and is now what it should be, the problem is usually a high resistance short in the ignition switch, in which case, replace the ignition switch.
