Evinrude 1983 4.5hp How to Start

I don't have a manual for this motor yet and would like to know how to start it. I understand what the choke is for, but the fast and slow idle control? Also the tiller throttle position - what position should it be at? Also at the end of the tiller is labled STOP - Is this something you are supposed to push to stop the motor - it doesn't appear to move and there is a ring around it that rotates and clicks - sorry for the nebie questions but I'm new at this - thanks in advance

Fast & slow idle in general doesn't need to be fooled with once it is set. Do a search & you should find a good explanation.<br /> The throttle should be set to the start position which is about half throttle. Unfortunately the paint wears off, but if you look at the right angle in good light you should be able to see the impression in the plastic. If you advance the throttle to much an interlock keeps the starter pulley from engaging the flywheel when you pull the rope. <br /> Push & hold the end of the tiller to stop. There isn't much movement. <br /> The ring that clicks is an idle speed adjustment. Look at the ring & you'll see a + and - mark for the speed. The owners manual says how to do it. I wouldn't mess w/ it until you get it running & get a manual.
