hello
i'm new here and i need some help with my 1994 evinrude 15hp motor model: e15rer ser# go3534619. i just bought the motor about 2 weeks ago (replaced my mariner) runs great at wot it runs 24mph but after you run it 2mins or 30mins and go to start it you have to choke it and once it is running and put it in gear it may or may not stall i might have to choke 1-4 times to get it in gear without stalling but once you get it in gear without shutting off it runs like a top the guy i bought it from said he had the carb rebuilt 3-4 months ago after sitting about a year or so (hes an older guy so i know he did not dog it the motor looks new) but he did say he had to carry it to 3 diff mechanics to get it right the first mechanic put the wrong carb kit on would it be my carb or fuel pump i checked the filter it is clean i pulled the carb the screws was loose on the bottom (2 of them) i tightened them and put the carb back on and still does the same thing

any thoughts on this would be great (i did rebuild the carb on my mariner and it runs great)

thanks

Regardless of what the prior owner said if I were you I would overhaul the carb.

Re: evinrude 1994 15hp

hello again
i received my carb kit friday from i-boat the (so be mechanic) did not install the gasket thats in the bottom of the fuel bowl nor was the retainer spring for valve seat, and the gasket/o-ring for the idle passage screw so i put the muffs on and started it and it ran for a few men and died i tried a few times it still would die so i went back to the book i don't know if it was where the mechanic did not install a complete carb kit and just used what he had or just got it running good enough to make him think it was fixed after reading the book i found that the cam follower was a good inch away from the fixed mark on the cam but i followed the book it is fixed i hope well its lining up with the mark anyhow my ?'s are the idle passage screw should it be seated all the way or what i looked in the book and all over the internet i can't find anything also the low speed screw is 1 1/2 or 4 turns from lightly seated my book tells you in the carb tuning 1 1/2 but in the carb settings its 4 turns

the carb was clean but there was deposits valve seat area i cleaned it and replaced with the carb kit

and thanks for responding to my thread solittle, jbjennings
