Evinrude 1999 115 Ficht Spark Plugs

I have a 1999 Ficht with 200 hours on it. My Evinrude mechanic just put in champion 7712 plugs as recommended but they are fouled after 5 hours. I am not sure if he indexed the plugs which might be the case and I want to try the champion xc12pepb plugs. My cylinders are not pinned so I am supposed to use the 7712 but really want to use the XC12PEPB types to try and get a better burn. Does anyone know if I will damage my engine my trying these plugs instead as they are recommended for the 2000+ models engines. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? Thanks

Any luck with your spark plug problem? I am also having problems with alignment on new plugs.

Go by the manufactures recommendations. There's a reason for it.
