Evinrude 2.6xp Gets Stuck Trim Down

Hi, I have a Evinrude 2.6xp 1984 .The motor gets stuck in the trimmed down position.It only gets stuck when I tuck the motor all the way in(down).
If I stop trimming just short of all the way in I'm ok .I did some troubleshooting while on the trailer .I found that when its stuck down(in)if I yank up on the lower unit then use the trim button it will free.Also when in the water if it is stuck if I goose it or make sharp turns or go over a large wake it will free. Is there a trim down limit switch on this that needs adjustment or something else? Thanks Jim

Try swapping the two trim relays in the trim relay box on the rear of the engine. If that fixes your trim up problem, replace them both and keep the good one as a spare. If not, check the trim switch in the handle for proper operation.
