Evinrude 2017 Etec HO 200hp

I am buying a boat with this motoro on it. Still has warranty until 2023. I was wondering about the motor and why Evinrude stopped coming out with motors based on year. It seems the last one was 2012. All the rest are Model AA, or AB, AG, AH etc I found the motor on the boat we are to purchase. It is a AB model (90degrees, V6 3.3L) What do all these model numbers mean. Just curious.

Make sure you have a dealer / shop in your area that will help you in case of breakdown , or service is needed.

Evinrude stopped coming out with motors period...
The codes at end of model numbers are features...AB is blue paint,AG is graphite color..AH is Lighting gearcase.

They had a production run of X number of motors.-----Sold the same motor for a number of years.----Then a new production run.------Not much different than what others did over the years.
