Evinrude 28 Carburetor Help Remove

My 1970's vintage 28 hp needs a carb rebuild but after taking a look at it, I can't figure out how to get it off with the starter in the way. Looks hard to do.

I believe they only made the 28hp in the early 60's and not again until the 80's-90's. If it's an early 60's motor (with magneto ignition), yes, you do need to remove the starter or at least loosen the bracket and swing it out of the way.

Don't let the starter scare you, very easy to move out of the way, only takes a few seconds.

Remove the positive cable from the battery to avoid blowing something. Like the fuse or worse.
