Evinrude 28hp 1985 a good engine?

Happy Memorial Day all! I am in the market for a 70 to 80 something 25hp or 30hp Johnson or Evinrude tiller shortshaft. I have just come across a nice 1985 28HP Evinrude. I wasn't considering this hp choice so I have three questions -<br />1. What is your advice about this engine design re. reliability or what have you comparred to the 25s and 30s? <br />2. Can I convert this remote engine into a tiller without mortgaging my house?<br />3. Can I put an electric start on it reasonably?<br />Kind regards,<br />Chris

It was a good engine 19 years ago, ctbs, but:<br /><br />Conversion to tiller steer and conversion to electric start would cost more than the engine is worth.<br /><br />Look for one that fits your specs, even if it costs a lot more.<br /><br />Good luck.
