Evinrude 35 Hp 1984 headgasket

I bought a headgasket online to my latest fix on my motor ( broken reed )<br /><br />Somehow or another, delivery got delayed, parcel lost in mail ......<br /><br />As my holliday started, i got some special liquid gasket in local motorcycle shop, good for 270 deg celsious and 75 Atm pressure and reused old gasket, with a little extra turque than last time. Motor runs great. Now the gasket arrived. Should i pull head again and change gasket. Any opinions ?

I would try to run everything as close as possible to factory so that when another problem comes up you can eliminate the repairs you did right.

I just replaced my head gasket on my 1984 Mercury 50hp and had a similar situation you had....<br /><br />Anyway, I didn't have a leak with the old gasket but did at the exhaust cover. Since I had to pull the head to get the cover off I had to replace both... Everything went fine until I fired it up and I found a leak at the new head gasket, relatively minor but it bothered me. So I re-pulled the head and used some liquid gasket on the top and bottom of gasket (the same as you used) and it solved the problem...<br /><br />So my advice is, keep an eye on it, but if it doesn't leak your ok for now...Sometime down the road you'll use that gasket anyway...

Thanks for your replies.<br /><br />I already did 7 hrs on it. Its totally clean and dry outside - i will take a look at plugs tomorrow.
