If one plug is wet that means it was likely not firing. The problem may be simply that the plugs need to be changed. It may also be that cylinder has lost spark. It may also be that there is a carburetion problem on that cylinder. But check for spark first. Replace the plugs and see what happens.

That could be caused from a number of things. First, try the other plug and see if it fires, if not, you'll have to check everything throughout the ignition system. Check and make sure the points are clean and gapped at .020. If it still doesn't deliver spark at that point, then it's likely your condensor gone bad or coil. Check and make sure the coils are not cracked.

My little blip of a manual on this motor says early motors had an inspection port through the flywheel to adjust points, later motors the flywheel had to be pulled. Even with the inspection hole it's still hard to see all of the coil. Pull the flywheel. Is this a big twin or lark?

You don't say what year the motor is, but if it's a '60s motor with points, coils, condensers, it sound like you're only running on one cylinder due to a bad coil. Motor will idle fine on one cylinder, but when you hit the gas, it won't run so good.

Those coils are the weak point fortunately a fairly easy fix and coils are available right here.Check the coils, any cracks or discoloration replace.
Check the wires for wear from rubbing or age.Wire should be available here.
