I would like to know the weight of a 1985 40hp Evinrude if anyone can help me?

I have a Stessl 4.3M Alum runabout for fishing and general running about, with the Evinrude 40hp on it, however am considering replacing it with a 50hp of some sort, hopefully lighter but more HP? Could anyone suggest a good replacement lighter in weight and more powerful than the old Evinrude 40hp? Perhaps Japanese? :D

Look forward to any suggestions

OMC made 50 and 60hp versions of that same looper twin, Mike. They weigh about the same, depending on T&T, etc.

You are not going to find a better 40 to 60 HP 2 stroke that is lighter or more powerful.

Good luck. :)

I agree with JB too...the 40 & 50 twin cyls were among the best for OMC. All up weight for a full electric 40/50hp twin is 218 lbs. Up to a 60/70hp 3 cyl and weight is 257 lbs.
