Been spending the last few nights reading through posts and was hoping to get some assistance with my project. I recently bought a 1979 bass tacker iii with a 1989 Evinrude 48SPL. None of the gauges worked (nor were the connected to anything) and the wiring was in need of major help. I have removed all original/additional wiring/gauges and started fresh. The boat has a brp throttle control and the grey wire runs from the engine to a harness by the control then changes color. Is that typical? Is that grey wire my lead for the tach? Also, does anyone know how many pulses this engine has? Looking forward to getting out on the water soon! Any additional input for this motor control kit would be helpful! I located the grey wire on the bus by the motor. Should I run the tach lead there instead?

Thanks!

Re: Evinrude 48 SPL wiring help

The remote should have a 3-pin outlet for instruments.
One Grey -tach signal, tach to be set on "6".
Red(purple) B+
Black - neg -
This outlet is only intended for instrument use and not running lights and other accessories.
