Evinrude 4hp deluxe

I just purchased a 1985 evinrude 4hp deluxe for $167. The motor is in new condition. I think that I got a good deal but have a couple questions. Are there any issues common to these motors? Are parts readily available (best place to buy parts)? Thanks for any information.

Congratulations. If the motor runs well and your compression is good i think that is a good price for it. I'm not aware of any genetic problems to the 4HP species. If fact the opposite. they are great little motors and run all day on a gallon of fuel. Check your compression, plugs and replace the impeller for a start. I would strongly suggest getting an OMC service manual as well. I usually get them off eBay. Parts should be available here at Iboats and if not most are available at any BRP dealer. Fuel mix is 50/1 regardless dispite decals that say 100/1. Best of luck and have fun. Rick.
