I have one Evinrude 50 HK 1990 VDO.

On my last trip out, my motor was running along fine and then it cut out and died. I soon discovered that if I pump the bulb it run fine even at full speed. When I stop pumping it stalls. I have open the fuel pump, but can't find anything wrong.

HEEELP !!!!

Big Brother from Norway

Hei!

Sounds as if your motor can no longer suck sufficient fuel from the tank.

This will happen if your fuel pump is too weak (although al parts seem intact), if the fuel line/filter/bulb is clogged or if the air-vent in the tank cap is blocked.

The air-vent is easily checked by removing the cap. The hose etc. may be checked by blowing air through it. My guess is you end up with a defective fuel pump and have to buy a kit for it. This happens and the kit for it contains all you need.

BB,
It has all the indications of the fuel pump gone bad. If your ball goes soft while under a load , she's not pumping any fuel.I just replaced my pump on my 70hp evinrude and that was the same problem I was having. Now it is running great.

Deuce
