Hello, I am working on a 1972 Evinrude 50 hp. When I pull the remote control back to idle position the throttle cam is about 1/2 in. from the follower on the carbs. The manual says to adjust the follower until it lines up with mark on the cam. However I dont think I have enough adjustment for that on the carb. follower. Should I adjust the rod that runs from the throttle cam back to part that the remote control is hooked to, to take up most of the slack and then adjust the follower acording to the manual? I dont know what has be fooled with on this motor. thanks

1st please do not double post. i would say someone before you worked on it didn't know what they were doing. remove the cable, now make adjustments to the motor throttle link at idle, now adjust, per link n sinc directions, once you get it right, then adjust the cables, so that you do not move anything on the motor to connect, us the trunion nut to adjust the cable.

you make cables fit motor not motor fit cable.

Thanks! The throttle plates were out of sync. The top one was closed and bottom was open a good bit. However I think there are other problems with this motor but I am making progress. thanks again
