Evinrude 60 clutch dog

Having stripped the lower unit of my 1986 Evinrude 60 I have found the clutch dog worn on the forward gear as expected. Can I just flip it round and use the reverse side? The forward gear is not worn. I appreciate this is not 'good practice'!!

No, you can't do that. Look closely at the shifter dog and you might see a imprint that says "Prop Side".

Thanks. I haven't stripped the prop shaft yet so will probably spot that. Any ideas where to get a decent price on a new one?

Decent price on a new one? No, not really unless you're pretty friendly with some dealership. I know they list for over a $100 now (whew!).
