I have a 1990 60hp Evinrude. It has the vro pump, and is burning oil at a suberb rate. This is causing my plugs to foul and stalling at trolling speed. Any ideas?

Hi Vic;
I think that ypu probly have an air leak on your fuel supply line. I had that happen to me once, ypu could have hired that sucker out as a mosmosquito repeller.
Just a thought

Thanx for the tip almost retired, I'll check it out this afternoon. Also, would you recommend completly disconnecting the vro, once I fix the problem? I heard a lot of boaters do this. Good Idea or not. Let me know what you think.

One more thing. Should i try to repair the fuel line with the leak or replace the entire hose?

Hi VIc;Don't think of just the hose between your 6 gal. and the engine. If it is a leak it could be anywhere between the fuel side of the VRO and the tank. Sometimes these can be very hard to find. Once that you find it I would definitly try to repair it.
I know a lot of people that disconnect their VRO because they don't trust it. It's a matter of opinion,it is a good system though.
