Evinrude 6hp 1977. got it about ready to go, only prob when I start it vibrates of instead of an idle, I have to hold it. Thinking possibly need a new spring and also curios where and how about would I check and adjust linkage. Do they maybe make a tiller grip that fits with the locking mechanism ? thank you

Have you cleaned the carb and is it adjusted correctly?

i cleaned the carb with carb and choke cleaner as well as used the air gun to clean out any holes. It is now spotless. My idle got better after doing that. What/how would I adjust besides the lean/rich adjustment? thank you

What else have you done to that engine so we know what has already been done?

Also, have you checked the compression and spark yet?

Good spark. Going to check the compression thursday when I can borrow a tester. Is there any key signs that compression may be low ?
