Folks,

I bought an 5.1meter bought with an 1982 Evinrude, 70 HP, 3 Cylinder 2 stroke engine. When I took it out for a run with the previous owner it went well with no probs. I took it out yesterday for the first time since I bought it and 5 minutes into the journey, the engine stalled. It started again immediately, however when I put it in forward or reverse it stalls again. It started okay again and stalled the moment I put it in gear. Didn't know why this happened. I fueled it before taking it out with a 100:1 gas to oil ratio. Owner told me he had been using 100:1, while literature says it sho
uld be 50:1... So what should it use for the future?

Now when I got home, I put the water muffs on, and
started it, put it in gear with no problems. Everything was fine... however 5 minutes later, while in gear and at about 4000 RPM, the motor shut, and it won't start.

It seems that the starter can't turn the flywheel. The starter gear hits the flywheel and gets stuck there. It seems that the flywheel is stuck! Not sure if this is a broken cylinder, gear shaft, broken piston rings... Has anyone seen this before? What do you think it might be?
What should I look at? any tips on how to troubleshoot would be great.

thanks,
Dan.
