Bought a powerhead 115hp for my 85hp. Did a teardown to check over and did a quick hone/ re-ring. Found pistons were 0.020" over so she has had some previous enjoyment on her.
My policy is to always, always, always confirm rod #'s because some times you wind up getting 2 rods with the same number and then you can't confirm what is what. Anyhow, I have 2 rods with the wrist pin oil hole pointing up (which FSM says is correct) and 2 pointing down. Assuming this is to oil the wrist pin and gravity takes care of the lower bearings did the previous user install 2 rods upside down for a reason? Maybe they put them all together the same way and then turned the piston over LH vs RH and din't notice what they did??? Does it matter?
