Hey guys,
I just changed out the water pump on a Evinrude 88 SPL but I can't get the shift rod to re-engage when I slide the lower unit back on.
I remember when I took the lower unit off, I had to push in the shift linkage to release the lower unit so I know what it should feel like when the shift rod re-engages.
I've read in some other posts that it needs to be set at a certian height but I don't have the maintenence manual.
Any help would be great, a few questions...
What gear should the throttle be in when I am trying to put the lower unit back in?
Should I push the linkage pin in when I slide the lower unit in and then pull it back towards me when I think it's in place to "lock" it in?
Thanks guys, Justin
