Evinrude 88SPL E88MSL Starter Quoestion

Hello fellow iboaters! This may be a simple (stupid :facepalm question but I would still like others opinion on this.

I charged the battery (13.8volts) lowered the tilt and connected the muffs and turned on the water. When I try to start the engine the starter just makes buzzing or shorted sounds and does not run.

I tapped on the starter with a screwdriver and spun the starter to make sure it was not seized and tried agian. The starter spun maybe a half tun and that was it . So I'm 99% sure it's the starter (told you it's a stupid question!) so I ordered a new starter today and I hope it's here tomorrow (Friday) or worst case it will be in my hands Monday.

Is there something I'm overlooking or did I solve my own problem??

sounds like either a bad connection or stuck brushes. Remove and clean ALL the connections until they shine and try it. If that doesn't work a couple drops of sewing machine oil on the shaft after spraying with wd40 usually works. You can have your starter rebuilt at shop in your town for about 1/3 of what a new one costs.
