evinrude 88spl ignition issues

Ok i have a 1987 evinrude 88spl. I had no spark and i have disconnected the black wire on the trigger and now i have spark but it will now not turn off. This would mean i need to replace the ignition switch? correct?

Black wire on the trigger? I have no idea what that means.

If you're speaking of disconnecting the Black/Yellow wire from the powerpack... OR... from the raised "M" terminal of the ignition switch, and doing so enables the ignition, then yes... replace the ignition switch.
