I had just recently bought a 16 ft center console with an evinrude 88spl. top half of the motor is fine, however the lower unit needs work. It is very tough to shift in and out of gear. Is that a transmission problem? Another question... I cannot find any matching model numbers or serial numbers. Other than the plate and the freeze plug, how do i go about finding the year of my engine? Any insight would be great. Thanks
