I don't know of any free manual but you can purchase one from the link at the top of this page. You might want to check the library out. Sometimes they have manuals.<br /><br />As far as removing the lower unit. Pull the trim tab bolt and the bolt beside the trim tab if your motor has one. Sometimes there is a bolt under the trim tab itself, if so remove it. Disconnect the shifter linkage under the lower carb and remove the four bolts, (two on each side of the lower unit). You should be able to get the lower unit to come off if I've remembered all the bolts. If I haven't, I'm sure someone will correct me..<br /><br />Do yourself a favor though, get a manual.<br /><br />Good luck
