Hello all,

I just picked up a motor from a friend of mine. His Grandfather won it in a raffle about 25 years ago or so. I was told he used it once and put it in the basement. The motor is in perfect, clean, looks like brand new condition. The Model# is E8RCEC. The serial # is B1953867. Below that on the data plate it says Outboard Marine Corporation Belgium. Does any one know what year this motor is? I have not tried to start it yet. I need the fuel lines and tank. I want to use it for a kicker on my Lake Michigan boat. I have heard these Evinrude twins are pretty bullet proof. Anyone with knowledge on these that can help me out here?

e8rcec =1989. if it has the 100:1 sticker on it for fuel oil ratio...disregard it and stick with 50:1! replace the impeller, change the gear oil and plan to clean and rekit the carb. nice little motors! ( google marineengine for an exploded view and part numbers if you plan to do the work yourself)

Thank you nwcove!! I'm not an outboard guy, so where is a good place to look for the carb kit and water pump kit for an 89 outboard?

One more question...Is running the ethanol crap gas in my area going to be OK with this vintage of motor?

ethanol wont hurt the motor itself, but you will need to replace all the fuel lines under the cowl with current ethanol resistant stuff. and if your fuel will be sitting around for extended periods, i would recommend adding a good quality stabilizer.
your local brp dealer, or iboats will have all the stuff you need to get her ready for july when the ice is gone! lol
