My 1990 Evinrude 9.9 moves me (185lbs), my 112 lb 12 ft Meyers, and gear at 20.2 mph at WOT. I don't know what my RPMs are, but the motor seems to run just fine.

I clocked this on my GPS. Does this sound OK?

Thanks,
ed
Re: Evinrude 9.9 moves me 20.2 mph @ WOT, sound ok
I'm ok on the rating, as the USCG sticker has it rated for 10hp max.

I seem to be one of the faster boats on my nearby river. We have a 10hp restriction on it too.

ed

You could be fined. Insurance will not cover you if you have an accident. Your transom could suffer from the power and weight. The boat may become very unstable and unmanagable. Stick with it or get a bigger boat with a bigger motor... People have done it, but I cannot recommend it..

Thanks all for the feedback!

I like how this 9.9 moves my tin boat. Just wanted to validate it with the group.

Again, thanks!
ed
