Can somone advise me what year model my Evinrude 9.9hp Model # 10424S serial # E0005497 is, and what is OMC on the front?

Well, I cannot tell you the year, as my knowledge of finding year via model number only goes back as far as 1980. As for the OMC up front, that is for Outboard Marine Company. Best outboard company EVER. They made Johnson and Evinrude outboards from a LONG time ago, to about 1999 or 2000. They also made lawnboy mowers until about the same time. They made the most reliable motors, but were sent into the ground by the EPA back in the late 90s. Of course, BRP is screwing the name. They quit making Johnsons, and used the Evinrude name just for the DI technology. They also won't make parts for the OMCs neither.

Somebody on here should be able to get the year off the top of their head.

well said well said but a few little mistakes OMC stands for outboard marine corporation and OMC's last year alive was 2000 but the last model they ever made was a 2001.(not fitch).they also still hold the record for building the worlds fastest production outboard it was a 1994 2 stroke V8 300 HP but yamha clames to be coming out with a V8 350 HP and they also clam to beat OMC's old record.altho its 50 more HP its also 400 pounds heavyer and a four stroke so we will have to wait and see until 2008 when it comes out.if you take care of that OMC it will out live you.they also have a really nice book about OMC called Evinrude,johnson and the legend of OMC the book was published right before the company went backruped but its a really nice book.so them 3 letters you see on front of your evinrude are much more then 3 letters.

it's not an antique. but, it is a great little engine, just broken in well. as said with proper care your grandkids will be using it. it is a 1974, fuel ratio 50-1, parts are available. and manuals can be bought here.. or get the number and search ebay.
