Evinrude 9.9hp Parts

I have a 1975 9.9hp Evinrude Model # 10554C. Runs great, unfortunately the Idle Speed Knob on the right side behind the throttle has recently broke. It's the black adjustable portion that sticks outside the engine and hold the whole part together. Does anyone know where I might locate this part?

You should have no problem getting that at an Evinrude dealer. You should look in the cowling to see if you still have the C clip snap ring that holds the knob in place. I better be more detailed. You might need the knob, a tension washer, a snap ring and the left hand threaded push rod that screws into the adjustment knob. That's better. Rick.

Good thinking, I still have all those parts just need the black knob portion. Is it a pretty standard piece?

Yeah, used for a pile of years. I seem to recall it's pretty cheap too.

Thanks for the thoughts. I checked with one nearby Marine dealership and they quoted me a price of $20.20. I will check with a few more dealerships before ordering one. The engine starts up fine, as long as you dont move the trottle, with the idle knob out it of course doesnt hold the idle speed.
