Hey guys...

im about to replace the motor on my boat....im choosing either between a 1990 evinrude 90hp in great condition for 300.00 without controls.... OR a 1999 Suzuki 85hp in flawless condition with controls and everything installed for 2400.00...
What do you think ? Any comments or recomendations? Please help me to decide....

Hi, Tom.

The Evinrude.

Suzis are good engines, but Suzi quit making 2 strokes.

Good luck. :)

xxwulvexx,

I agree with JB. There is a HUGE difference in cash outlay here-$2,100.00.

The John/Rude controls can be had, on ebay, relatively cheap and throw in a new set of shift/throttle cables and you're in for probably less than $500.00.

The John/Rude may need some maintenace items but you're still looking at less than another $200.00 if you do the work yourself-including a manual of course!

I have personally run representative examples of both those engines. While the Suzy is nice, it does not compare in low end grunt and overall performance to the John/Rude.

The John/Rude is a VERY understressed engine while the Suzy is at it's design limits-IMHO.
