Hello all hoping one of you can shed some light on a issue I am having installing the bearing carrier on a 150HP Evinrude Ficht S/N E150FPLSSV. It is the style with the two retaining bolts at the very back of the carrier. Removed to reseal the the lower unit and now I can not for the life of me get it to go all the way back in. I have cleaned the inside of the gc as best I can and cleaned all the 'gunk' or anything that looks like it may stop it from going all the way in. It needs to be pushed in about 3/8 inch and the manual says you can 'tap' it with a mallet to help it along but this thing does not move when hit and I am thinking there is something wrong that is hanging it up........

Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Can you turn the prop shaft easily while trying to seat the bearing carrier? And did you grease the large o-ring that goes around the BC (assuming it has one).

Some times when things like that hang up, they are not square in the bore. Remove it and again make certain that everything is totally clean and no burrs. Then square it up and easily tap in around the sides and see if you can get it moving in. JMHO!

If it came apart easily, it should go together easily if all is well. Be sure to heavily grease the large carrier o-ring. That may be whats holding it back

Slight turning of the propshaft or the flywheel may be needed to properly line up the reverse gear teeth with the pinion gear.
